Durable Materials

From the start we knew that for Seatcase to be successful it would have to be sturdy, lightweight and compact.  For the body of the chair we chose Lexan®, an engineering thermoplastic developed by General Electric Plastics.  It is the same lightweight material used in many applications where strength and lightweight are critical, such as aircraft interiors and football helmets.  For the remainder of the chair we used a combination of high-strength aluminum and stainless steel tubing.

What might surprise you is that the SeatCase® supports an average size adult up to 300 pounds, with a safety factor two to three times higher.  All this from a wheelchair weighing as little as 16 pounds.

Precision Engineering

We knew the SeatCase® had to fold, unfold, and operate easily, each and every time.  The chair was designed using the latest CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) technology, much the same way aircraft are developed.  Before the tooling for the parts were complete, engineers at the plastics division of General Electric (GE) Corporation fine-tuned the designs for form, fit and function.

In all manufacturing stages, using injection molded Lexan allowed for greater strength to weight ratios, dimensional stability and overall superior construction.

But just as important as which material we use, or how the SeatCase chair is made, we're certain you'll appreciate its unique features.

Superior Mobility

The SeatCase® chair easily fits through a 15" doorway and it turns 360 on its own axis, making it the only wheelchair truly designed for narrow pathways, like airplane isles.

It's also the only chair that can access all airplane bathrooms.  That's why SeatCase® is used by the best major airlines, including United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Delta Airlines.

"It's being used on all our narrow body jets and we hear nothing but great response from the use of it"

       Jackie Pate, Delta Airlines

Easy to Stow and Use

Because the SeatCase® collapses into the size of a briefcase, it's easy to handle and simple to stow.

It'll fit under airplane seats, or in overhead compartments.  Even more attractive is that the SeatCase® conforms to airline carry on luggage regulations.

It's perfect for trains and buses too.  In fact, the SeatCase® can also be found on train systems in Japan and Australia.

Safety

The SeatCase® comes equipped with brakes, a footrest, backrest and handles to guide it.  All are molded or safely tucked away into the front or back panels for easy transport.  For additional safety or personal choice, a seatbelt/chest restraint, seat cushions, armrests, leg straps and carrying bags are also available.

Other Advantages

The SeatCase® is designed to significantly increase accessibility for elderly and disabled people at home, at work, recreation, and traveling.  It is also an efficient interim access solution for those in the commercial sector that must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Good for People, Good for Business

    Health Care Industry

Demonstrating the versatility, ease of use and effectiveness of the SeatCase,® rehabilitation specialist can alleviate many of the apprehensions shared by patients and their families about the difficult transition from hospital to home.

    Transportation Industry

The SeatCase offers disabled and elderly passengers on airplanes, trains and buses access to seating and bathrooms, and neatly stows away when not in use.  Currently used by more than 20 major airlines internationally, including United, Delta, and Alaska Airlines.

    Recreation Industry

On cruise ships, in recreation vehicles, and on pleasure boats, a SeatCase chair will enhance the existing relationship with elderly passengers and will attract new disabled passengers.

    Hospitality Industry

The number of elderly and disabled travelers is increasing rapidly.  Having a SeatCase or two available when all wheelchair accessible rooms are occupied provides alternative in house accommodations serving as a welcome mat promoting goodwill and future business.

    Public and Private Businesses

Public housing, university housing, rental units and retail businesses (including restaurants) can use the SeatCase to immediately make their bathrooms with narrow doorways "accessible" while they upgrade architectural structures in a fiscally prudent manner.
